Available from a variety of home loan lenders, Introductory Home Loans are essentially a Standard Variable Home Loan that has reduced home loan interest rates during the first 12 months before reverting back to regular variable loan interest rates.

Home buyers need to be aware that during the 12-month 'honeymoon' period, some home loan lenders do not allow you to access all of the features that you would expect on a Standard Variable Home Loan such as extra mortgage repayments or home loan interest savings from a mortgage offset account. You may also be penalised if you pay off your Introductory Home Loan within the first five years of the life of your home loan.
